Yesterday I was scrolling facebook and came across a group called “You Can’t Pick Your In-laws.” In an attempt to understand where these women were coming from, I posted a question:
In one sentence or less, what is the biggest struggle you have with your mother-in-law?
238 comments later, here’s what I got.
“She has no respect for me.”
“She won’t stop trying to pressure us into giving her a grand baby”
“Boundaries boundaries boundaries.”
“How the hell can I say that in one sentence or less!? Lol.”
“She loves drama.”
“She exists.”
“She runs through men like Kleenex.”
“She tries to raise MY kids… When she didn’t raise her own.”
“She uses her health issues to get the attention she desperately craves.”
“She breathes.”
“My mother-in-law is the devil.”
These comments left me thinking about the years past, and my own mother-in-law struggles. They reminded me of the first time someone told me the truth, and how it had changed my life forever.
And that’s exactly what I’m going to do for you.
Because I love you.
EVERY WEAKNESS YOU SEE IN ANOTHER PERSON IS A MIRROR OF A WEAKNESS YOU HAVE IN YOURSELF.
This means if you think someone is judgmental, you are judgmental too. If you think someone loves drama, you’re drama too.
Trust me, I know. I know it’s not easy to hear, and even harder to see.
That’s because it takes much less effort to look at other people’s faults than to look our own.
But I promise you, this is the best news ever.
Because when you choose to take a look at your weaknesses, you can choose do something about them.
And this is where the power lies.
I can’t begin to tell you the way my life changed when I decided to take a good, hard look at myself.
I hired a coach who showed up for me every week without one ounce of judgement. She loved me unconditionally and continued to help me see where I was and how to get where I wanted to be.
And since we’re on a roll, I’ll tell you one more important truth.
Your mother-in-law has nothing to do with the happiness or peace you feel in your life.
But you do.
I want to gently and lovingly help you see where you are right now, and help you get exactly where you want to be.
Are you ready?
